It's a common scenario for the first day of a crew member's contract to be logged as a travel day (the crew member is travelling to the vessel).
To log this in Voly Crew, a travel day will need to be linked to a leave period, so the process for doing this at the start of a crew member's contract would be:
Liam starts his contract on the 1st of September, but for his first contracted day, he will be travelling to the vessel.
To log the travel day, we'll need to schedule a leave period for the 31st of August and have an inbound travel day on the 1st of September.
As the leave period on the 31st August sits outside of the contractual period, it won't get taken into account in any leave reporting or accrued balance calculations. The flight day, however, will be as it's within the contractual period.
To create the leave period, log a Not on board day for the 31st August (just a single day):
Then add an inbound travel day on the 9th. You can also add any flight details at this stage:
And finally, you can set whether the travel day should accrue leave or not in the Review stage:
Once logged, the leave day will sit outside of the contractual period, but the inbound travel day, along with any flight information, will sit inside the contractual period:
