It's a common scenario for the first day of a crew member's contract to be logged as a travel day (the crew member is travelling to the vessel).
To log this in workrest, a travel day will need to be linked to a leave period, so the process for doing this at the start of a crew member's contract would be:
Harry starts his contract on the 9th of July, but for his first contracted day, he will be travelling to the vessel.
To log the travel day, we'll need to schedule a leave period for the 8th of July and have an inbound travel day on the 9th.
As the leave period on the 8th sits outside of the contractual period, it won't get taken into account in any leave reporting or accrued balance calculations. The flight day, however, will be as it's within the contractual period.
To create the leave period, log a Not on board day for the 8th of July (just a single day):
Then add an inbound travel day on the 9th. You can also add any flight details at this stage:
