Ordering your crew lists by Crew Number
You can now give each crew member a Crew Number and use it to order your crew lists across the platform. This means you no longer need to add numbers to crew members’ first names to keep them in order.
Adding a Crew Number
Each crew member’s profile now has an optional Crew Number field. You may have seen this before as a greyed-out Number field; it’s now ready to use.
A few things to know:
Crew numbers are set per vessel, so the same person can have a different number on each vessel they’re part of.
Numbers don’t need to be unique.
Decimals are accepted (for example, 2.5), so you can place a new joiner between existing crew without renumbering everyone.
Only administrators can edit the Crew Number field, in the same way as Department and Position. Every change is recorded in the audit history, so you always have a clear record of the changes.
Sorting crew by Crew Number
Crew number is now available in the Sort by menu on the Leave, Hours, Payroll and User Management pages.
When you sort by crew number:
Crew are listed in ascending number order.
Crew with the same number are ordered by surname.
Crew without a number appear after everyone who has one.
If your vessel has crew numbers assigned, crew number will become the default sort.
Where else you’ll see Crew Numbers
User Management: A new Crew No. column is shown, and you can sort by it.
